We don't know what others are going through.
Yoga can, however, support people who are navigating challenging circumstances, such as grief, divorce, chronic illness, etc.
This 4-hour training will explore trauma-informed teaching approaches, including:
Types of trauma
How to create a safe(r) practice space
Reading the energy in the room
Language cues to invite full participation
Self-care considerations.
Expect lively discussions, ample breaks for reflection, a trauma-informed yoga practice and an embodied sense of how to incorporate these techniques into your teaching, if you are a yoga teacher. Worksheets are included.
This experience is open to yoga teachers and to anyone who is curious about trauma-informed yoga.
Yoga teachers will earn 4 CEUs through Yoga Alliance upon completion of this workshop.
This training will be led by yoga teacher Elizabeth Wood, E-RYT 500. She has taught thousands of classes in a variety of settings, including yoga studios, community centers and schools.
Since 2019, Elizabeth has led a trauma-informed yoga program at a juvenile detention center in central Ohio.
